A portrait of Nathalie Van Durme – Studio 19.09

Nathalie Van Durme is the face behind graphic design label Studio 19.09. She develops visual concepts with a strong focus on detail. Her work is based on the principles of a strong concept, simplicity, clarity and character. She is inspired by the passion of her clients and truly cares about their success. The studio focuses on creating a real story, a unique design and a perfect identity.

In this portret shoot I tried to capture the relationship between the designer, the lovely Nathalie, the design process and the final result. Because these three aspects are important to tell the story of Studio 19.09.

The Future Archive

Yesterday I had the honor to be part of ‘Future Archive‘, an innovative project at Biennale Interieur curated by BaronessO. A selection of inspiring objects and furniture were selected to create a unique visual installation. I worked on a series of abstract compositions, determined by the strong shapes of the objects. Planes, lines and curves were the basic elements to build this series. By shooting the settings from top, and using square view frames, the images became more abstract and universal. The soft and often complementary colors were used like it were paintings.

It was an amazing experience to style and shoot this images in the environment of the Biennale Interieur. Improvisation (I didn’t know which objects to expect) and interaction (instant feedback of the visitors hanging around) were key elements of the day. Thanks Baroness O. and Biennale Interieur for the opportunity and making this possible!

JusJus Milks

You will probably know Jus Jus from its delicious cold pressed juices and cleanses, but they have a lot more to offer! I can tell you it was a pleasure to photograph (and taste!) all the healthy and yummy stuff. Let’s start with their milks. The Fresh Light x Biennale Interieur

Biennale Interieur is celebrating their 25th silver edition from 14 to 23 October in Kortijk Xpo. Baroness O. created a unique and interactive project: the ‘Future Archive‘, a display of new objects and reigning trends, the most innovative furniture and accessories that every visitor should remember. A group of creatives is invited to create a visual installation with the pieces on show. I’m so happy to announce The Fresh Light is one of them! On Monday 17th October I will take over the Archive to create a series of inspiring captures. Floom will add the surprising element of food into the project. Appelaere Juices

The best way to start the day, is a glass of fresh-pressed juice. But sometimes, I juist don’t find the time to add it to my morning rituals. Then I’m happy to find a bottle of Appelaere in my fridge. This dutch brand is producing natural juices from 100% fruit. Healthy and tasty, without any additives. Besides apple juice, you can choose for pear juice (Perelaere) and orange juice (Sinaasappelaere).

Printed in a book!

This summer season I had the pleasure to photograph a series of christening parties. I loved to meet all the lovely families, and being part of their special day, celebrating their little ones. Capturing the joy and happiness of these moments gives me a warm feeling. After editing the photographs, I love to put them together in a book. I believe that’s the best way to keep your memories, and it’s so much more fun to turn the page of an album, then to click on a screen. Don’t you think so? I prefer premium quality albums with uncoated paper, and a linen cover with dust jacket.

This book illustrates the wonderful garden party to celebrate the christening of baby girl Charlotte, and her sister Juliette’s 3rd birthday. It was colorful feast, with smiling faces, beautiful dresses, fresh flowers, banners and balloons, tasty food, sparking wine and fresh lemonades. For the kids there was a huge birthday cake, homemade popcorn, a piñata, and a cute retro carousel to make it an unforgettable day! Sarah Van Hove from Sourire was taking care of the party organization, and Nathalie (owner of the beautiful interior shop Perfect Living) was the warmest host. She both did a great job!

Fig season

While we are still enjoying the mild and sunny days of the Indian summer, autumn is slowly coming our way. Which means that summer fruits are coming to end, to make place for pomegranates, persimmons, and figs! Time to change our morning rituals. After eating berrie smoothies all summer (can you ever get enough of them?) I made a simple but delicious fig yoghurt this morning, with pistachios and honey on top. What is your favorite autumn breakfast?

When I met Joëlle and Julie for the first time, we immediately felt a connection. We share a common passion for minimal and authentic designs. They are the enthusiastic and creative team behind ‘Cazelle‘, a company specialized in interior, styling and objects. For the realization of their interiors, they choose every piece of furniture and decoration very carefully with there impeccable taste. A selection of this objects will be for sale this weekend at the ‘Kabane private sale’ in Zomergem.
